Counterparts, formed in 2007 in Hamilton, Ontario, have long been carving their path between melodic hardcore and metalcore. Led by Brendan Murphy, the band combines fast tempos, sharp riffs, and heavier sequences, with a melodic sensibility that darkens the message. From Prophets (2010) to A Eulogy for Those Still Here (2022), Counterparts has tightened a denser, more introspective writing, focused on loss, relationships, and mental health, without losing the tension that sustains each track.
