Ratboys arrive at Patterns in Brighton on September 9, 2026, with their Chicago indie rock that loves to blur the lines. Centered around Julia Steiner (vocals, guitar) and Dave Sagan (guitar), the band moves forward with a highly narrative approach to songwriting, sharp choruses, and this natural blend of electric folk, subtle emo, power pop, and alt-country inflections. Since AOID (2015) and GN (2017), Ratboys have sharpened their playing without losing melodic precision or the eye for everyday detail. Printer's Devil (2020) and The Window (2023) place greater emphasis on the band's dynamics: tighter guitar work, leaner arrangements, and a soft tension between rock energy and gentle melancholy. Live, this translates into songs that build quickly, alternating calmer passages with more direct bursts, carried by Steiner's clear voice and guitars that stay catchy without overdoing it. Special guests will open for them.
