Hindley Street Country Club lands in Liverpool on April 24, 2027, at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, with its distinctive format: a collective of studio musicians gathered around bassist and producer Constantine Delo, who translates on stage the energy of live takes. Born in 2017, the project has been built on sessions recorded as in concert, with that sense of a close-knit, precise, no-frills band. HSCC tackles the great pop, rock, soul and funk standards, especially from the 70s, 80s and 90s, without shying away from newer titles. The core of the sound remains very “session band”: a rhythm section firmly in place, melodic guitars, keyboards upfront, sometimes a few brass players to thicken the arrangements. Another hallmark: a regular rotation of invited male and female vocalists, which changes the color of a piece from one to another. Between respect for original structures and discreet rearrangements, Hindley Street Country Club plays on the finesse of detail while maintaining the direct appeal of a concert designed for live performance.
