Yaelokre sets down roots in Montreal on November 27, 2026, at Studio TD, with a project that blurs the boundaries between acoustic folk, OPM, and the world of storytelling. Led by Keath Ósk, the narrative unfolds around Meadowlark, a homegrown mythology where songs, illustrations, and staging advance together. On stage, the masked characters and costumes are not mere scenery: they extend the writing, highly narrative, carried by subdued melodies, a lead vocal, and light arrangements that let the stories breathe. After the EP Hayfields (2024) and the track “Harpy Hare”, which circulated widely, the project continued to deepen its arc with Songs of Origin (2024) and Origins (2025), shifting perspectives and delving into its central figures.
Opening act, Ben Caplan, a Canadian songwriter based in Halifax, brings North American folk tinged with klezmer and Eastern European influences. His music plays on the contrast between acoustic ballads and more rock-leaning impulses, with a highly expressive voice and a pronounced taste for storytelling. From In the Time of the Great Remembering (2011) to Birds with Broken Wings (2015), and then Old Stock (2018), linked to a theatrical production, he cultivates a vein between roots and cabaret, before Recollection (2020), which is more stripped-down.
