Microwave lands in Edmonton on October 30, 2026 at Pawn Shop Live with their emotionally tense rock, at the crossroads of emo, alternative and post-hardcore. Led by Nathan Hardy, the Atlanta-based band plays with contrasts: abrasive guitars, more melodic moments, nervous accelerations and more atmospheric moments. From their DIY beginnings on Stovall and Much Love, Microwave has thickened their sound across their records, while keeping that intimate writing that speaks of anxiety, relationships and what sticks to you as you grow up.
Free Throw, born in Nashville around Cory Castro, continues the same emo/pop-punk vein of the 2010s, with a knack for choruses and a no-nonsense live energy that doesn’t pretend. The band alternates fast passages, rhythmic breaks and more introspective sequences, driven by direct lyrics about mental health, addictions and coming of age, from Those Days Are Gone to more recent releases.
Carly Cosgrove rounds out the bill with her Philadelphia emo-pop-punk, tinged with math-rock-style rhythms and catchy melodies. Between offbeats, tempo changes and everyday details, the trio delivers a vivid and precise sound, in the spirit of See You In Chemistry.
