On October 16, 2026, The Jayhawks bring their Sanctuary Park Tour to Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, celebrating 40 years of a band that helped shape the alt-country and roots rock landscape. Born in Minneapolis in the mid-’80s, the group first took off around the Gary Louris–Mark Olson partnership, with a sound built on close vocal harmonies and songs that move between stripped-back acoustics and fuller, band-driven arrangements.
Across key records like Hollywood Town Hall and Tomorrow the Green Grass, The Jayhawks refined that balance of country rock, folk rock and melodic pop sense. After Olson’s departure in the mid-’90s, the band continued to evolve under Louris, exploring denser textures on Sound of Lies, then leaning back into a more direct, acoustic feel on Rainy Day Music.
