I almost titled this show 'The Pleasure'. Then I realized that the only pleasures one might think of under a title like that would be pleasures forbidden to anyone under 18. Yet, for financial reasons, I want under-18s to be able to attend my show as well. So I named it 'Delicious': it's a family-friendly show.
In an hour and a quarter, I will attempt to untangle the complexity of what provokes pleasure in human beings. Of course, pleasure can come from a glass of Chasselas enjoyed along the lake in spring. But it can also be triggered by the death of someone you don't love. Of course, an unexpected promotion within the company can bring joy. But so can eating Gruyère in Gruyères, or knowing—when you are French—that you do not pronounce the 'z' in Étivaz (which lets us delight in correcting all the fools who get it wrong).
My aim is for this show to provoke in you a certain pleasure, in a mise-en-abyme as delicious as eating Gruyère in Gruyères.
