Fatoumata Diawara

On 22 November 2026, Fatoumata Diawara takes the stage in the Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin. She blends electronic sounds with traditional melodies and a distinctive voice, casts a sharp eye on social issues and brings that stance directly into her live set.

Since her debut album Fatou (2011) she has steadily expanded her repertoire; with Fenfo (2018) she broadened her range toward Afrobeat, jazz, pop, electronic music and hip‑hop. In May 2024 London Ko was released, developed together with Damon Albarn: the title intertwines London and Bamako, musically pairing urban beats with West African patterns — a contemporary retelling of traditional music that unites heritage and the present.

Live, new tracks sit alongside pieces from her early years. The experience from collaborations with Bobby Womack, Herbie Hancock and Roberto Fonseca, as well as projects like Africa Express — where she shared the stage with Paul McCartney — is clearly audible. Diawara relies on precise grooves, catchy melodies and songs with conviction — direct, supple and without pathos.
