Info
Dent May grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, singing in church and school musicals before cycling through pop punk and emo bands. After three semesters at NYU film school, he headed back South to Oxford, co‑founded the Cats Purring collective and started playing solo with a ukulele. A meeting with Animal Collective at Sweet Tea Studio led to his 2009 debut on Paw Tracks, The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele, recorded in a double‑wide trailer in nearby Taylor. Since then, his palette has shifted toward psych‑pop, synthpop, indie rock and new wave across Do Things (2012), Warm Blanket (2013), Across the Multiverse (2017, featuring a duet with Frankie Cosmos), Late Checkout (2020) and What’s for Breakfast? (2024), following an early self‑release, A Brush With Velvet (2007).
On November 2, 2026 at The Garrison in Toronto, Dent May digs into this catalog, blending his ukulele‑born songwriting with keys, pliant melodies and retro‑tinted arrangements for a set that traces his route from bedroom pop to sleek, synth‑leaning grooves.
