Ibeyi + 1ère partie

On 21 November 2026 at Espace Julien in Marseille, Ibeyi are performing, preceded by an opening act. The duo brings together Franco-Cuban twins Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz, who shape a music that blends soul, contemporary R&B, downtempo, trip-hop and electronic pop, all threaded through Yoruba and Afro-Cuban rhythms. On stage, Lisa-Kaindé sings and plays piano, while Naomi leads the percussion — cajón, batá drums — providing a rhythmic grounding inherited from their family history.

The set moves between the spare songwriting of their debut album Ibeyi, the sonic expansiveness of Ash and the more direct streak of Spell 31, with lyrics in English, French, Spanish and Yoruba. The twin voices take center stage, supported by restrained arrangements in which the piano-percussion dialogue structures the dynamics of the live show. Batá polyrhythms, R&B syncopations and electronic textures reply to one another without excess, allowing ritual chants and pop melodies to surface. This alchemy highlights the sisters’ musical bond, a precise interplay that favors rhythm, the articulation of harmonies and the breathing space between songs. Before the duo, an opening act kicks off the evening.
