Cirque du Soleil - OVO

OVO from Cirque du Soleil arrives on January 23, 2027 at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu. Created in Montreal, the Quebec-based company has shaped an animal-free circus where acrobatics, visual theatre and music drive the action. With OVO, it unfurls a world of insects in constant motion, conceived as a wordless fable. The acts revolve around a mysterious egg, the through-line of the staging.

We follow ladybugs, beetles, crickets and ants, each with its own movement vocabulary and acrobatic technique. The crickets defy gravity on a trampoline wall, the ants juggle and coordinate on the ground, lifts and balances push the body to its limits, while other disciplines — diabolo, contortion, teeterboard — punctuate the narrative. The scenic design evokes a meadow scaled to insect size; costumes and makeup transform the performers into vibrant creatures, and the original score alternates percussion, electronic textures and sung melodies, in a language that blends invented sounds with world music influences.

OVO emphasizes the Cirque du Soleil signature: distinct characters, a straightforward, easily readable story, and millimetre-precise execution in service of the movement.
