Ibeyi

On 17 December 2026 Ibeyi will perform at the Columbia Theater in Berlin. Behind the name, which means “twins” in Yoruba, are Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz, born in Paris with roots in Havana. Their music blends soul, contemporary R&B, downtempo, trip hop and electronic pop textures, with a clear emphasis on Yoruba and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Live, Lisa-Kaindé’s voice is paired with piano and keys while Naomi sets the pulse on cajón and batá drums; the lyrics shift between English, French, Spanish and Yoruba.

The show spans from their early releases through Ash to Spell 31, where the sound is captured in an even more direct manner. Between pared-down arrangements, tightly woven harmonies and polyrhythmic percussion, an interplay of intimacy and driving grooves emerges. The legacy of their father, the Cuban percussionist Angá Díaz, is also present, alongside their openness to contemporary electronics. Recordings with guest artists such as Kamasi Washington, Mala Rodríguez, Pa Salieu and Jorja Smith mark milestones in the studio — on stage the core remains: two voices, percussion, piano and a concentrated, organic dynamic.
