Housenation: Deetron, Fer Xplosion

The man behind the name Deetron is the Swiss Sam Geiser. He was born in Bern and, as far as we know, still lives there. His first contacts with the world of music came during his childhood thanks to the influence of his father, a jazz musician. But what he was passionate about when he was still a boy was hip hop. He was fascinated by Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest and Prince Paul, but also by the hip-house melodies of Todd Terry and the sounds of Detroit techno pioneers like Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Sam began DJing hip hop when he bought two turntables and a mixer in 1992. The DJ culture of the hip hop movement became his gateway to electronic music. He started playing in various clubs across Switzerland and went on to become a resident at Trax @ Rohstofflager in Zurich, where he has performed alongside Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Luke Slater, Surgeon, Steve Bicknell and others. Sam became quite popular for his skills in three-turntable sets that straddle techno, house and classic Detroit tracks.
