Info
Jake Xerxes Fussell brings his thoughtful take on American folk to Union Chapel, London, on 14 October 2026, sharing the bill with Naima Bock. Raised in Georgia and now based in North Carolina, Fussell digs into Southern songbooks—ballads, work songs, country blues—and reshapes them with a clear, melodic guitar style and unhurried delivery. Since his 2015 self-titled debut, he has released five records that trace this ongoing conversation with field recordings and oral traditions. His latest, When I’m Called, produced by James Elkington, features Ben Whiteley and Joe Westerlund, with Blake Mills on guitar and harmonies from Joan Shelley and Robin Holcomb. Fussell and Elkington also co-wrote the music for Rebuilding, a feature film whose soundtrack appeared on Fat Possum in 2025.
Sharing the stage, Naima Bock steps from her early days as Goat Girl’s bassist into a solo world of folk and indie writing, where acoustic textures, layered voices and restrained arrangements lead the way. Born in Glastonbury to Brazilian and Greek parents and raised between Somerset and São Paulo, she threads different influences into songs that feel spare yet expansive. After early singles including 30 Degrees and a take on Berimbau, her debut album Giant Palm arrived in 2022 on Sub Pop, followed by Below a Massive Dark Land in 2024, prefigured by Gentle, Lines and Feed My Release. On stage, Bock moves between intimate setups and fuller band forms, keeping close to the independent UK scene.
