Metalheadz Blue Note Sessions touches down at The Wardrobe, Leeds, on 23 August 2026, with two architects of drum & bass at the decks.
Goldie brings the Metalheadz ethos he forged in London’s early 90s clubs: breakbeats cut sharp, bass pressure, and a taste for widescreen atmosphere. From his first releases as Rufige Kru through Timeless and later explorations, his sets weave rugged rhythms with soulful chords and orchestral tension, built for the floor but open to detours and long blends. It draws a line between jungle’s raw edges and drum & bass’ deeper contours.
Dillinja, raised in Brixton and recording since 1991 under names like Capone, Cybotron or Trinity, pushes a different weight. His tracks ride tense breaks and low-end built to shake rooms, with flickers of dub, reggae and soul in the grain. From The Angels Fell and Rainforest to the Valve era with Lemon D, he honed a direct, system-ready sound. Together, their selections trace the sound’s evolution, from razor breaks to sub-heavy rollers.
