Info
The Wailers take the stage at Cyprus Avenue, Caroline Street, Cork, Ireland on 20 August 2026. Rooted in Trench Town, Kingston, the group formed in the early 1960s around Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh, first shaping their sound in the ska and rocksteady era at Studio One. Tight vocal harmonies drawn from gospel and R&B met the pulse of Jamaican popular music, before a move toward a slower, stripped reggae with producer Lee “Scratch” Perry and the rhythm bed set by Aston “Family Man” Barrett and Carlton Barrett.
Through the 1970s, the name evolved into Bob Marley and the Wailers, and after Marley’s passing, live line-ups built around musicians from that story have continued to bring the repertoire to audiences worldwide. On stage in Cork, The Wailers carry that lineage forward, revisiting a catalogue that runs from The Wailing Wailers to the Island Records years. Expect close-knit harmonies, deep grooves and the songs that defined their journey, played by artists who keep the band’s history alive in the present.
