Hed PE and Cold take over Arts Club, Liverpool, on 26 September 2026. Two approaches to heavy alternative music share the same stage, each with its own way of bending genres and building tension.
Hed PE come armed with a hybrid sound that folds punk bite, hip-hop cadence and metal riffing into tight, confrontational songs. Vocals swing between rapid-fire flows and rough-edged shouts, anchored by grooves that favor impact over ornament. It’s a crossover built for the live setting, where sharp dynamics and rhythmic push keep the focus on movement and release without fuss or frills.
Formed in Neptune Beach and shaped on the Jacksonville circuit, Cold carry the darker, melodic thread of US post‑grunge. Led by Scooter Ward’s deep, vulnerable voice, the band moves through thick guitars and restrained tempos, letting choruses do the lifting. From the rugged self‑titled debut (1998) to 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage (2000) and Year of the Spider (2003), then the slower, more introspective A Different Kind of Pain (2005), their writing has kept a clear sense of mood. Reformed since 2009, they’ve extended the story with Superfiction (2011) and The Things We Can’t Stop (2019), a catalogue that lands on stage with a steady, unshowy weight.
