Info
Saint Etienne bring their Final UK tour to New Century in Manchester on 15 September 2026. Formed in Croydon in 1990, the trio of Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs has developed a blend of indie dance and pop archaeology, folding 60s melodicism into house, synthpop and sleek dance-pop. They first made their name with Foxbase Alpha (1991), then moved toward more story-led writing on So Tough (1993) and the folk-tinged, electronically sculpted Tiger Bay (1994). Good Humor (1998) tilted to a more organic pop feel, while Sound of Water (2000), recorded in Berlin with To Rococo Rot, opened to ambient currents. Finisterre (2002) and Tales from Turnpike House (2005) deepened their London lens, before a later run that includes Words and Music (2012), Home Counties (2017), I’ve Been Trying to Tell You (2021), The Night (2024) and International (2025), alongside collaborations with Étienne Daho, Richard X, Xenomania and Kero Kero Bonito. On stage, they thread these eras, drawing lines between club pulses, electronic textures and pop storytelling.
