Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit

Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit play The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on 8 June 2026. After his years with Drive-By Truckers, Isbell formed the 400 Unit in the late 2000s between Muscle Shoals and Nashville, shaping songs that sit between alt-country, folk and southern rock. The project leans on close-up storytelling and a feel for contemporary tensions, carried by the steady interplay of a long-running band.

Across the set, the group draws on a catalogue that moves from the 2009 self-titled album and Here We Rest (2011) to The Nashville Sound (2017) and Reunions (2020), recorded with producer Dave Cobb, then Weathervanes (2023), which pushed further into a melodic, guitar-led sound. On stage, arrangements stay lean and musical, with interlocking guitars, grounded rhythms and room for dynamics. Ballads and rangier rock songs sit side by side, giving space to Isbell’s voice and guitar while the 400 Unit anchors the narratives with a measured, road-seasoned pulse.
