Amanda Shires

Info

Amanda Shires lands at Saint Luke’s & The Winged Ox, Glasgow on June 8, 2026. Singer-songwriter and fiddle player from Lubbock, Texas, she works the fault line between alternative country, folk and americana. Trained young on the violin, she first cut her teeth with the Texas Playboys and the Lubbock Thrift Store Cowboys before building a solo path in Nashville. On stage, her clear voice and fiddle thread through spare folk and warmer electric textures, carrying songs that look at love, doubt, daily rituals and the small turns of a relationship.

Her catalog has steadily widened, from early records like Being Brave and West Cross Timbers to Carrying Lightning, My Piece of Land, To the Sunset and the more recent Take It Like a Man. Along the way she’s become a fixture within Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit and co-founded The Highwomen with Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby, a collective spirit that feeds her writing and band dynamic. In Glasgow, she brings that mix of storytelling and violin-led melodies, drawing across her albums and collaborations without losing the intimate pulse at the core of her songs.
