From the Jam rewinds to the core of The Jam’s catalogue, a blend of mod revival, punk bite, new wave angles and power pop hooks that marked late 70s/early 80s UK. Born in Woking, The Jam forged sharp, economical songs with a 60s beat, soul and R&B undertow and lyrics grounded in everyday life. Across In the City, This Is the Modern World, All Mod Cons, Setting Sons, Sound Affects and The Gift, the music shifts from raw, rapid bursts to more crafted arrangements that keep the pulse upfront. On stage, From the Jam traces that line: tight drums, forward basslines, clipped guitars and choruses made for a room to sing, moving from early velocity to the leaner, groove-brushed feel of the later records. The set dives into the different phases of the band’s writing - punk immediacy, observational storytelling, then cleaner, soul-tinted pop - without losing that tense, melodic edge.
