Billy Ocean, born in Trinidad and raised in East London, blends silky R&B, classic soul and pop with a Caribbean pulse. Emerging in the mid-70s with Love Really Hurts Without You and Red Light Spells Danger, he hit a new stride in the 80s with Suddenly and the worldwide single Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run), followed by Love Zone and Tear Down These Walls. His later albums — from Time to Move On to One World — keep that smooth, rhythmic songwriting at the center, the kind that sits between warm vocals, crafted hooks and sleek arrangements.
Marti Pellow first made his mark as the voice of Wet Wet Wet before carving a solo path that moves easily between soul-pop, balladry and interpretative work.
