Formed in Dublin in 1963, The Wolfe Tones carry the tradition of Irish ballad groups with acoustic folk, traditional songs and historical ballads. Built around Brian Warfield and Noel Nagle, and joined by Tommy Byrne in 1964, the group has performed as a trio since 2001. On 29 August 2026 at The SSE Arena Belfast in Belfast, they present a set shaped by vocal harmonies, strings and traditional airs, moving between rebel songs, emigration ballads and pieces that trace Ireland’s political and social history. Their repertoire blends original compositions with songs from the popular canon, exploring themes of identity, memory and the Irish experience. Across six decades they have recorded titles such as The Foggy Dew, Let the People Sing, A Sense of Freedom, You’ll Never Beat the Irish, Child of Destiny and The Dublin Rebellion 1916, works that continue to resonate with audiences in Ireland and across the diaspora. On stage, their arrangements keep these melodies alive with close harmonies and a steady acoustic pulse.
