CMAT plays Scarborough Open Air Theatre in Scarborough on 18 July 2026. Under the name CMAT, Dublin singer and songwriter Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson shapes a pop palette laced with country and Americana. Since the late 2010s she’s built a catalogue of direct melodies and clear storytelling, circling relationships, loneliness and the fixations of everyday life. On stage, she leans into a conversational rapport and a hint of theatre, moving between country-pop ballads and more uptempo cuts. Songs from her debut If My Wife New I’d Be Dead (2022) and the conceptual Crazymad, For Me (2023) anchor a set where bright hooks meet traditional harmonies and a narrative voice that stays disarmingly frank.
Also on the bill, Bristol’s Katy J Pearson blends indie pop, pop rock and folk with a soft Americana tint. After early days in the duo Ardyn, she’s carved a solo path with Return (2020), Sound of the Morning (2022) and Someday, Now (2024). Clean guitars, concise structures and a growing sense of arrangement shape her songs, opening a complementary space alongside CMAT’s storytelling.
