Info
Altered Images will perform at Brewery Arts on 21 September 2026 at 6:30 pm.
Altered Images originated in Glasgow and were part of the 1980s Scottish new wave and post-punk scene. Still led by singer Clare Grogan, the band continues to perform worldwide.
Clare has worked in music, film, television, theatre and radio for more than 40 years. The summer she left school, Altered Images signed to CBS Records, and she appeared in the BAFTA-winning comedy Gregory’s Girl directed by Bill Forsyth.
Altered Images found worldwide success, selling millions of records, with chart-topping releases in several countries. They recorded three top 10 albums and had six UK top 40 hits, working with producers Martin Rushent, Mike Chapman and Tony Visconti. They were voted best new group at the NME Awards the same year they were invited to play at the Royal Command Performance.
Clare and the band worked with Scottish painter David Band, creating artwork that was released as prints along with the singles. Clare made her debut at the Royal Albert Hall, where she joined Texas on stage, and also teamed up with Sharleen on a track on their album Hi.
Altered Images songs have an established audience and, in recent years, a new one as well. Clare continues to revisit past songs and perform new tracks from her album Mascara Streakz.
