Formed in 2003 by Rou Reynolds, Chris Batten, Rory Clewlow and Rob Rolfe, the UK band fuse alternative rock with hardcore and metal currents, a blend honed across Take to the Skies, Common Dreads and A Flash Flood of Colour. Live, they move between sharp riffs, sing‑along hooks and breakneck shifts, pulling from every era rather than leaning on a single album.
Cardiff’s Holding Absence add a melodic post‑hardcore shade, balancing tension and release with open choruses and airy guitars. From their self‑titled debut through The Greatest Mistake of My Life to The Noble Art of Self Destruction, the group — today centered on Lucas Woodland, Scott Carey and Benjamin Elliott — writes with a clear sense of dynamics and emotion built for the stage.
Opening, The Callous Daoboys channel Atlanta’s mathcore edge: dissonant turns, abrupt tempo changes and sudden pockets of melody. Led by vocalist Carson Pace and an expanded lineup that can fold in violin, sax or keys, they push their experimental metalcore on Die on Mars and Celebrity Therapist, where chaos, hooks and cinematic interludes collide.
