Sebastian Marx returns to the stage with a new work-in-progress show, picking up right where we expect him: observing everyday life, cultural misunderstandings and that slight gap between French social codes and American reflexes. After twenty years of “analyzing” France, he has developed a theory that seems simple: there are only six types of French people. It remains to be seen where you fit, where he places himself, and whether putting people into boxes isn’t, ultimately, just another box.
Between France and the United States, Paris and 'the rest', religion and atheism, fatherhood and childhood, Sebastian Marx tells of this constant tug-of-war and the difficulty of finding one’s place, with a direct, precise stand-up that’s familiar enough for us to recognize ourselves. Join him for an evening that questions the labels we wear… and the ones we stick on others.
