Sebastian Marx returns to the stage with a new work-in-progress show, picking up where audiences expect: observations of everyday life, cultural misunderstandings and that slight disconnect between French norms and American instincts. After twenty years spent “analyzing” France, he’s arrived at a seemingly simple theory: there are only six types of French people. The question is where you fit, where he places himself, and whether sorting people into boxes isn’t, ultimately, just another box.
Between France and the United States, Paris and "the rest", religion and atheism, fatherhood and childhood, Sebastian Marx explores this constant tug-of-war and the difficulty of finding one’s place with a direct, precise stand-up that’s familiar enough for us to recognize ourselves. Join us for an evening that questions the labels we wear… and the ones we stick on others.
