Sebastian Marx returns to the stage with a new work-in-progress show, picking up where you'd expect: observations of daily life, cultural misunderstandings, and that subtle mismatch between French codes and American reflexes. After twenty years spent "analyzing" France, he has come up with a theory that seems simple: there are only six types of French people. Now it remains to be seen where you fit, where he places himself, and whether putting people into boxes isn't, deep down, just another box.
Between France and the United States, Paris and “the rest,” religion and atheism, fatherhood and childhood, Sebastian Marx recounts this constant tug-of-war and the difficulty of finding one's place, with a direct, precise stand-up that feels familiar enough for us to recognize ourselves in. Join us for an evening that questions the labels we wear… and those we stick on others.
