Info
Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox brings its vintage take on pop to the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga on October 31, 2026. Founded by pianist and arranger Scott Bradlee, the collective recasts contemporary hits in styles from other eras—jazz swing, ragtime, doo‑wop, soul and big band—with a rotating cast of vocalists and a well‑rehearsed ensemble grounded in close harmonies and tight horn parts. Hooks from pop, hip‑hop or R&B take on a fresh dimension with stride piano, walking bass and brushes on the snare drum, while each singer puts their own stamp on the material and on the phrasing.
Born on YouTube and honed on tour, PMJ unfolds a set that changes with the voices and arrangements: a ’90s anthem slips into a speakeasy‑style number, a rap hook transforms into a crooner standard. The arrangements play with modulations, breaks and call‑and‑response, without losing the heart of the melodies. Bradlee steers from the piano, launches the solos, controls the dynamics and orchestrates this rotation of guests, resulting in a concert that blends compositional precision with onstage freedom.
