Juan MacLean plays at Hang Dai on May 23.
Hailing from New York City, he has played a role in shaping indie dance and modern electronic music since the early 2000s. As an artist on the New York imprint DFA Records, he rose with the label’s early wave, helping bring back disco-infused left-field electronic music with a sound rooted in techno, house, electro, and synth-driven pop.
His DJ sets blend classic and contemporary grooves. As a longtime resident of the Good Room in Brooklyn, he plays open-to-close sets that can span over 7 hours.
