Fischer-Z - 50th Anniversary Tour

On 25 February 2027, Fischer-Z brings the 50th Anniversary Tour to Arena Wien in Vienna. Formed in London’s late-70s new wave, the project centers on songwriter, singer and guitarist John Watts, backed over the years by an evolving lineup. The first run of albums — Word Salad, Going Deaf For A Living and Red Skies Over Paradise — defined a mix of taut guitars, prominent keyboards and concise melodies, with socio-political writing that tracks daily life and quiet irony; songs like So Long and Berlin belong to that chapter between rock, post-punk and pop new wave. After a pause and a solo path, Watts revived Fischer-Z in the late 80s with new partners and a more melodic rock angle that kept the social thread alive, from Reveal and Fish’s Head to Destination Paradise. Later releases including Ether, This Is My Universe, Swimming In Thunderstorms and Til The Oceans Overflow extend that line, looking at Europe and contemporary tensions without losing the band’s new wave imprint.
