A Coltrane-influenced alto saxophonist and former sideman for Miles Davis, Kenny Garrett is a prominent figure in jazz. A musician for more than 40 years, the saxophonist has been honored with awards, notably a Grammy. His technique and improvisational ability are widely recognized.
His latest album, Sounds From The Ancestors, reveals multiple facets and reflects the history of jazz, R&B, and gospel from his hometown of Detroit. With openly acknowledged influences from John Coltrane and Miles Davis, and through his own compositions, Kenny Garrett delivers a distinctive groove.
