Info
New program. After a 2025 tour that drew more than 100,000 spectators, The Music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer in Symphonic Concert is back on the bill in February and March 2027. On 13 March 2027 at 7:00 PM at the Zénith de Strasbourg, rediscover film music performed by more than 70 musicians on stage: Interstellar, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean. Under the direction of conductor Nicolas Simon, the Yellow Socks Orchestra, a French symphony orchestra specializing in film music, will perform live works by these two composers.
John Williams, known for his orchestration work, has shaped film music since the 1970s. The regular composer for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, he wrote the scores for such landmark films as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws and Indiana Jones. His melodic themes, recognizable from their opening notes, helped restore the symphony orchestra to the heart of cinema. Honored with 5 Academy Awards and 54 nominations, his work spans generations.
Hans Zimmer, a German-born composer who became a naturalized American, reinvented the codes of film music by blending orchestral arrangements with electronic sounds. His collaborations with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator) have left a lasting mark on contemporary cinema. Awarded 2 Academy Awards, he creates immersive sonic atmospheres.
For nearly two hours, the concert offers a panorama of these scores. The d&b Soundscape audio system provides spatialized sound reproduction.
This production celebrates the music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams; the two composers will not be present on stage. The Yellow Socks Orchestra will perform their works live under the baton of conductor Nicolas Simon.
Nicolas Simon, conductor and musical director of the Yellow Socks Orchestra, has been the principal conductor of the Orchestre de Caen since September 2020. He is the founder and artistic director of La Symphonie de Poche and Philharmonicoeur, associate conductor of the Orchestre Les Siècles and conductor of the Démos project.
The Yellow Socks Orchestra is a French symphony orchestra specializing in film music, founded in 2015 by the production company uGo&Play and placed under the musical direction of Nicolas Simon. Under Joe Hisaishi’s direction, the Yellow Socks Orchestra performed music from Hayao Miyazaki’s universe (Studio Ghibli) with 250 musicians on stage.
