Les musiques de John Williams et Hans Zimmer

On 20 February 2027 at 7:00 PM at the Zénith de Toulon, The Music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer in Symphonic Concert returns with a new programme. On the programme: Interstellar, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean. Rediscover these film scores performed by more than 70 musicians on stage.

Under the baton of conductor Nicolas Simon, the Yellow Socks Orchestra, a French symphony orchestra specializing in film music, will perform works by these two composers live.

John Williams, the regular composer for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, has shaped film music since the 1970s. He composed the scores for E.T. the Extra‑Terrestrial, Jaws, and Indiana Jones. He has won 5 Academy Awards and received 54 nominations.

Hans Zimmer, a German-born composer who later became an American citizen, has blended monumental orchestration with electronic sounds. His collaborations with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator) have left a strong mark on contemporary cinema. He has been awarded 2 Academy Awards.

For nearly two hours, these scores that have left their mark on film history will be celebrated. Sound reinforcement will be provided by the d&b Soundscape system, a high-fidelity diffusion technology that enhances clarity and spatialization of sound within the venue.

The composers will not be present on stage. Their works will be performed live by the Yellow Socks Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nicolas Simon.

Yellow Socks Orchestra. The Yellow Socks Orchestra is a French symphony orchestra specializing in film music. It was founded in 2015 by the production company uGo&Play and placed under the musical direction of Nicolas Simon. The Yellow Socks Orchestra—literally “the orchestra with yellow socks”—is a nod to a convention still in force in some orchestras: musicians are required to wear black socks or risk a deduction from their pay. We chose to do the opposite and provided the musicians with yellow socks.
