Globale Inversion Inversion - Lassana Sarre

In a single brushstroke, art can make things appear and disappear at the same time. The exhibited works draw the gaze to the point of rendering invisible the people who guard them. Lassana Sarre invites us to an inversion and a displacement of attention.

After spending time with those who watch over the art center, the artist unfolds a series of murals and canvases that, in paint, reveal the sweeping history of the site’s caretakers. Washes and layers overlap on the walls that shelter them. They replay the patrols, the footsteps and the standing still, the beeps, the pauses, the shifts and the bursts, the secret stories, solitary or shared meals, furrowed brows and exchanged smiles.
