Info
Dwight Yoakam brings his lean honky-tonk and Bakersfield edge to Rogers Forum in Abbotsford on June 30, 2026. Born in Pikeville, Kentucky and raised in Ohio, he cut his teeth in early 80s Los Angeles clubs where country crowds rubbed shoulders with punk and roots rock scenes. That collision shaped a songwriting style anchored in honky-tonk drive and West Coast twang: tight, propulsive rhythms, wiry guitars and a nasal vocal tone that cuts through the mix without frills.
On stage, Yoakam mines a catalog that runs from Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. to Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room, If There Was a Way and This Time, carrying a clear line back to Buck Owens and the Bakersfield sound, including their duet Streets of Bakersfield. In recent years he’s widened the frame without leaving country behind, from the melodic turns of 3 Pears to Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars..., which reimagines his songs in a bluegrass setting. Expect a set built for dancing and listening in equal measure, swinging between barroom shuffles, two-step riffs and slow burners, delivered with the unvarnished clarity that defines his writing.
