Info
Shkoon looks back on the traces they have left behind.
Born from two worlds, Syria and Germany, they have woven their different perspectives into an album and a tour called TRACES, an invitation to walk through the imprints each of us—and all of us together—have left behind. In a world that often divides, the German-Syrian duo creates a space to come together. Shkoon presents TRACES live at Festsaal Kreuzberg, Berlin, on 13 May 2026 at 18h00.
To remember. To reflect. To dance. To breathe.
Every trace carries a story, and when we follow them, we do not walk alone. Shkoon’s story began in 2015, when Ameen from Syria and Thorben from Germany met in Hamburg. What started as a spontaneous musical exchange grew into a project in Arab electronica, blending Arabic folklore, original lyrics, and Western electronic influences.
Shkoon merges Arabic folk, traditional melodies, and electronic beats into their own sound. TRACES is not an elegy. It is a quiet reflection on what remains when everything else fades: the footsteps of those before us, the stillness after the storm, the echoes of transformation.
Inspired by the ideals of the Syrian revolution and a universal longing for freedom, belonging, and change, Shkoon’s music moves between nostalgia and momentum. With their debut album Rima (2019), Shkoon reached audiences across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.
Despite the challenges of Ameen’s refugee journey, their music connected stories and cultures. The concept album Masrahiya explored the boundary between fiction and reality, while Greater Than One built shared spaces of emotion and connection.
With TRACES, Shkoon opens a new chapter shaped by quiet resistance and the power of memory. This concert is an invitation to come together, to feel what connects us, and to leave a trace of your own.
