Celtic Legends

On February 16, 2027, at the Parc des Expositions – Destination Angers, Celtic Legends celebrates its 25th anniversary with a new, entirely live chapter that stays true to the project’s DNA. On stage, the Irish company blends tap/step dancing, ensemble choreography and solos that interact live with the musicians. Conceived by choreographer Jacintha Sharpe, the pieces draw on the codes of the céilí and alternate collective precision with more intimate interludes, closely attuned to traditional rhythms. On the musical side, Sean McCarthy’s direction emphasizes an acoustic, organic sound: uilleann pipes, penny whistle, fiddle, bodhrán and guitar map a journey through reels, jigs and ballads, with arrangements that play on contrasts and the stage’s dynamics. Born on the road and seasoned on major stages, Celtic Legends has forged a direct stage language in which dance and music answer one another without unnecessary effects. This Angers date is part of the anniversary tour and offers a lively exploration of Irish culture, carried by a tight-knit team, the energy of live performance and a confident sense of collective purpose.
