Ara Malikian

Ara Malikian performs on July 26, 2026 at the Concert Music Festival, in Poblado Sancti Petri, Chiclana de la Frontera. A violinist born in Beirut to an Armenian family, he trained in Europe—with a key period in Germany—and has been based in Spain for years. His career as a soloist encompasses recitals, concerts with orchestra and chamber projects, with a repertoire that crosses the classical tradition with music from the Near East, Armenian roots and Spanish influences, as well as nods to rock and jazz.

On stage he typically alternates works by Bach, Paganini or Piazzolla with reinterpretations of contemporary songs and pieces inspired by the different shores of the Mediterranean. This cross-cultural, dialogic approach defines a live performance that places the violin front and center, featuring his own arrangements and a musical narrative that moves between rhythmic drive and singing, cantabile melody. For his appearance at the festival, Malikian proposes a program in which technical virtuosity, popular references and echoes of his collaborations with flamenco and film coexist, without losing the thread between styles and eras.
