Danakil will be at Le Cargö in Caen on December 16, 2026. Founded in Marly‑le‑Roi at the end of the ’90s, the collective has shaped a French‑language reggae that is at once rootsy and contemporary, built around a solid rhythm section, melodic brass and a socially aware pen. On stage, the band combines warm groove with clear‑eyed lyrics addressing social justice, solidarity, ecology and freedom, without losing sight of the joy of live performance. Twenty years on the road have honed their sense of ensemble: tension buildups, dub breaks, singalong choruses and incisive horn solos. The set draws from their landmark albums — from Microclimat to Dialogue de sourds, from Échos du temps to La Rue raisonne — rearranged for the stage with a livelier dynamic and richer textures. Between crowd‑pleasers and new pieces, Danakil cultivates the interplay between explicit messages and hypnotic pulses, creating a natural intimacy with a loyal, curious audience.
