Master Boot Record

On April 26, 2026 at Lee’s Palace in Toronto, Master Boot Record steps out of the terminal window and onto the stage. The project is helmed by Italian musician Victor Love (also of Dope Stars Inc.), launched on Bandcamp in 2016 with a clear premise: swap distorted guitars for overdriven synths and chiptune arpeggios, and splice extreme metal rhythms with synthwave pulses and orchestral motifs. Track titles and visuals dig into BIOS screens, file systems and network protocols, shaping a sound world rooted in early PC culture and retro‑computing. After a string of self‑released records circulating between metal and synth communities, Master Boot Record moved to Blood Music, then to Metal Blade Records, which issued the album Personal Computer in 2022. Largely a studio endeavor, the project sometimes expands live with a metal‑leaning lineup, translating its coded aesthetic into a physical show where tremolo lines become square‑wave leads, double‑kick patterns are sequenced, and riffs are carved from saturated pads. A focused dive into a catalog that blurs the line between DAW and band.
