Berlin gets a first taste of Funky District on April 1, 2026 at LARK. The Paris-based collective lands in town as part of its debut European run, after stops in Paris, London and Amsterdam, with NanaBcool joining the bill.
Funky District is a five-piece steeped in 70s funk, folding in disco, soul and modern pop with a crisp French touch. On stage, bass, saxophone, drums, vintage keys and vocals drive a tight, dancefloor-focused set that stays fully live, no gadgets, no backing tracks. Suited up in retro threads, the band leans into groove and interplay, letting shifts, breaks and call-and-response moments keep the room moving without sacrificing precision.
NanaBcool, a Ghanaian-American singer, rapper and dancer, blends R&B, hip-hop, soul and afrobeats with an easy flow. Raised in Columbus, now based in Berlin after cutting his teeth in New York, he channels Ghanaian influences into warm melodies and percussive patterns. Notable releases like ICE TEA and 2amCruise sketch his lane: groove-led tracks, agile vocals and a feel for hooks. Live, he moves between rap and song, weaving in dance and crowd energy, a fluid counterpoint to Funky District’s funk engine.
