David Castello-Lopes « Délicieux »

On October 5, 2026 at the Théâtre Libre in Paris, David Castello-Lopes presents Délicieux, a family show in which he tackles a seemingly simple question: what brings us pleasure. In an hour and a quarter, he unfolds a very concrete inquiry, made up of everyday examples and those small logics that run through us: a glass of chasselas by a lake in spring, an unexpected promotion, eating Gruyère in Gruyères, or the quiet satisfaction of not pronouncing the “z” in Étivaz when you’re French. He examines these moments, their context, and their ambivalences, including when pleasure stems from something one would not dare to claim publicly.

On stage, Castello-Lopes draws on his taste for explanation, linguistic digressions and social observation to unravel the mechanics of these emotions. His declared aim is to provoke in the audience what he describes—a little mise en abyme of pleasure—accessible to all while not shying away from its sharper edges. Délicieux questions our automatisms, our micro-victories and our weaknesses, and invites us to look differently at what delights us, from the most trivial to the most ambiguous.
