David Castello-Lopes « Délicieux »

On 14 September 2026, at the Théâtre Libre in Paris, David Castello-Lopes presents Délicieux, a show he intends to be family-friendly and centered on an obsession that’s easy to name but harder to pin down: pleasure. For an hour and a quarter he playfully unravels what moves us, from the self-evident to the more ambiguous. There is the glass of chasselas by a lakeside in spring, the promotion that arrives without warning, the slightly childish joy of eating Gruyère in Gruyères, or the small insider satisfaction of knowing, in proper French, that Étivaz is not pronounced with a “z” — and of being able, with care, to correct those who stumble. And then there are those less readily admitted pleasures, the ones that surface where you least expect them.

On stage, Castello-Lopes unfolds his investigation on a human scale, with a taste for detail that shifts perspective and turns everyday gestures into micro-phenomena. Délicieux explores how joy arrives, why it lingers, and to what extent it resembles us. The ambition is clear: to provoke in the audience a pleasure commensurate with the subject, like a self-referential wink—a mise en abyme.
