Born Ruffians

Born Ruffians hit Oshawa on March 1, 2026 at BOND|ST Event Centre. The Ontario trio of Luke Lalonde (vocals, guitar), Mitch Derosier (bass) and Steve Hamelin (drums) started out in Midland before plugging into Toronto’s indie network, shaping a lean sound built on sharp guitars, staccato grooves and melodic low end. Lalonde’s high, grainy timbre and the band’s frequent call-and-response hooks keep the songs direct and close to the chest, circling themes of small-town life, awkward romance and the step from adolescence to adulthood.

On stage, the three-piece stays tight, sometimes widening the palette with extra voices, but always chasing immediacy and clear contours. Expect a set that reaches across their catalog, from the nervy spark of Red, Yellow & Blue and Say It to the more detailed arrangements of Birthmarks, Ruff and Uncle, Duke & The Chief, through the twin releases Juice and Squeeze. Touring across North America and Europe has honed their balance of punch and melody; in Oshawa they line it up with no frills: rhythm first, guitar lines interlocking, voices answering back, and songs that land in under three minutes.
