Info

The Fray brings the Summer of Light Tour to the Orpheum in Vancouver on May 27, 2026. Formed in Denver in the early 2000s, the band shaped a piano‑driven alt‑rock sound that sits between pop rock and melodic ballads. Built around singer‑pianist Isaac Slade and guitarist Joe King, The Fray writes with clean guitar lines, tight harmonies and lyrics circling relationships and questions of faith. The 2005 debut How to Save a Life carried Over My Head (Cable Car) and the title track beyond the local scene, helped by strong TV placements. The self‑titled 2009 album, then Scars & Stories in 2012 and Helios in 2014, folded in brighter pop touches and atmospheric textures. A 2016 best‑of marked the end of a first era and a quieter spell; on stage, the catalog moves between intimate piano builds and direct, chorus‑driven moments.

Toronto’s The Strumbellas join the bill with a blend of indie folk, alt‑rock and a hint of country color. Known for group vocals and simple, repeated refrains, the band grew from early releases to My Father and the Hunter (2012) and We Still Move on Dance Floors (2013), then Hope (2016) with Spirits, and Rattlesnake (2019) with quicker tempos and pop edges. Since 2022, main songwriter Simon Ward has stepped back from touring while Jimmy Chauveau takes lead vocals on stage, a change carried into the 2024 album Part Time Believer. Live, their songs lean on choral hooks and a straightforward, communal pulse.
