Info
On April 28, 2026, Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto hosts Clan of Xymox with Cold Cave and Buzzkill. An evening shaped by darkwave roots and post‑punk tension, where synths, drum machines and shadowy guitars set the tone.
Formed in the early 1980s in Nijmegen around Ronny Moorings, Clan of Xymox blends cold guitars, melodic synth lines and dancefloor‑leaning electronics. Early releases on 4AD, including the self‑titled debut (1985) and Medusa (1986), set a moody, atmospheric framework. Reborn as Xymox at the turn of the 1990s with a more synth‑pop direction (Twist of Shadows, Phoenix), the band later steered back toward denser darkwave with Hidden Faces and a long run of albums through Days of Black, Spider on the Wall and Limbo. On stage, Moorings’ baritone and layered arrangements move between coldwave, somber synth pop and atmospheric rock.
Cold Cave is the project of Wesley Eisold, launched in 2007 at the crossroads of cold wave, post‑punk and minimal electronics. Built on repeating synth figures, dry drum machines and a low, candid voice, the project made its mark with Love Comes Close (2009) and Cherish the Light Years (2011), then pushed a more direct, melodic edge on later singles and the EP Fate in Seven Lessons (2021).
Buzzkill rounds out the bill.
