Info
On August 9, 2026, Kim Mitchell plugs in at The KEE to Bala in Bala, Canada. The Ontario-born guitarist, singer and songwriter first made his mark in the mid-70s as the driving force behind Max Webster, a Toronto rock outfit that mixed punchy riffs with a few progressive detours, often in tandem with lyricist Pye Dubois. When the band folded in 1981, Mitchell went solo: a self-titled EP led to Akimbo Alogo in 1984 and a turn toward tighter, more melodic, radio-friendly rock.
The run continued with Shakin’ Like a Human Being (1986), Rockland (1989), the live I Am a Wild Party (1992), then Aural Fixations (1992), Itch (1994), Kimosabe (1999), Ain’t Life Amazing (2007) and The Big Fantasize (2020), made with producer Greg Wells. On stage, he leans into crisp guitar work, a direct voice and songs anchored in 70s and 80s rock DNA, balancing hard-edged drive and pop instinct. Alongside life on the road and in the studio, Mitchell also spent time behind a Toronto radio mic, a side path that kept him present in Canadian music.
