The Divine Comedy - European Tour 2026

With The Divine Comedy, Neil Hannon returns to Berlin: on 23 March 2026 the project will perform at Neue Welt. Since the late 1980s the Northern Irish songwriter has shaped his chamber-pop between British pop tradition, classical orchestration and restrained humour. On stage Hannon leads a repertoire that carries stories: piano, string textures, precisely placed brass, then again direct guitars and springy rhythms. Lyrics revolve around everyday observations, small social sketches and literary references — with melodies that seem understated yet linger long.

In the set, early pieces from Liberation and Promenade meet songs from the Britpop years such as "Casanova" or "Fin de Siècle"; later material from Regeneration, Absent Friends and Victory for the Comic Muse stretches the arc to Bang Goes the Knighthood, Foreverland and Office Politics. Live, The Divine Comedy switches between band energy and chamber-music intimacy; Hannon concentrates this with a clear voice and narrative timing.
